Forwork

A very small difference

Chapter 05 of Work Identity: trust does not come from titles or profiles, but from consistency between what a person says and what their work proves.

01

A very small difference

There is a very small difference.

But it changes everything.

02

The question behind the question

When someone asks about you, they do not truly want to know… where you have worked.

They are trying to answer another question. “Can I trust this person?”
03

We look at how a person works

That is why…

  • We do not look only at the company name.
  • We look at how someone speaks about their work.
  • Not only at the title.
  • But at how they solve problems.
  • Not only at the result.
  • But at how they arrived there.
04

Trust is created through consistency

Trust has never been created by a line of text.

It is created through consistency.

Between what a person says. And what their work proves.
05

What makes us trust someone

Perhaps…

What makes us trust a person is not their profile.

It is the traces they leave after every time they work.

06

Think of the person you admire most

Think of the person you admire most.

  • A teacher.
  • A manager.
  • A colleague.
  • A creator.
  • Or a friend.
07

You remember how they worked

You do not remember them because of their CV.

  • You remember how they worked.
  • How they listened.
  • How they asked questions.
  • How they kept their word.
  • How they handled difficult moments.

You remember how it felt to work with them.

08

Not the format of the profile

Not the format of the profile they once sent.

09

What is most memorable

Perhaps…

The most memorable thing about a person was never written in the “Experience” section.

It lives in what others say about them when they are no longer in the room.
10

A career built to be remembered

And perhaps…

A career should be built in the same way.

Not only to be seen. But to be remembered.
