Ten disconnected Projects may create volume. Three well-selected, well-connected Projects can create a clearer identity.
Step 1 — Selection matters more than accumulation
A Body of Work is not storage. It needs curation: what represents you, what adds context, and what should remain in the background.
Framework: Work → Selection → Pattern → Meaning → Body of Work
Work — what have you done?
Selection — which work should represent your current direction?
Pattern — what recurs across the work?
Meaning — what does that pattern say about how you create value?
Body of Work — can others see a coherent identity across the whole?
Step 2 — Find recurring problems
You may work across industries but repeatedly solve the same kind of problem: ambiguity, trust, complexity, conversion, or coordination.
Step 3 — Find recurring judgment
What becomes memorable may not be the output, but how you decide: simplify, prioritize, de-risk, structure, or humanize.
Step 4 — Find recurring principles
When multiple Projects express the same belief or principle, they begin to add depth to identity.
Step 5 — Connect work into a narrative
Not a fictional story, but visible progression: one Project develops a capability, that capability unlocks another opportunity, and the pattern compounds.
Step 6 — A Body of Work needs empty space
Not everything belongs. Curation also means removing work so the pattern remains clear.
A simple diagnostic
If company names and titles disappeared from your Projects, could someone still recognize a pattern in the value you create? If not, the Body of Work is still fragmented.
